CABIN FAQs
We know that purchasing a cabin is a big decision, and you likely have questions about the process, customization options, pricing, delivery, and more. Below, you'll find answers to the most common questions we receive. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help!
Our Top 20 Frequently Asked Questions
1. Are your cabins real log cabins?
Yes! Our cabins are built using real Douglas fir logs, not faux log siding. This provides superior strength, insulation, and durability, ensuring a true log cabin experience. We use 9” logs and offer either butt and pass or dovetail corner joinery.

2. How much do your cabins cost?
Cabin pricing varies depending on size, layout, and customization. For example, a "DIY cabin shell" that's 14x24 ft would cost around $45,000. A fully-finished 14x32 ft 1-bedroom 1-bathroom cabin would cost around $100,000, and if you increase its size from 32 ft to 40 ft long it would start at $115,000. On the high-end, a fully-finished 14x48 ft 2-bedroom 1-bathroom cabin would start at $135,000 but could cost more if you add on numerous customizations and high-end finishes and appliances. 3. How long does it take to get my cabin?
Once your cabin build begins, build times typically average about 12 weeks, depending on our current workload and the complexity of your cabin’s design. But depending on demand, we may not be able to start building your cabin until existing orders are completed so it’s important to get on the build schedule sooner rather than later.

4. What’s the process for ordering a cabin?
First, we discuss your needs and provide a quote. Once you're ready, a deposit of $2,500 secures your place in our production schedule. We’ll finalize design details, then build your cabin and send you updates throughout the build.

5. Can I customize the cabin?
Absolutely! This is your dream cabin so we want the aesthetics to reflect your personal style and design preferences. Examples of components that may be customized are the roof color, log stain color, kitchen cabinet color and style, interior wall layout, whether you want a laundry room and closets, window size and style, door size and style, bathroom design, light fixtures, and the flooring material and color.

6. Do you offer financing?
In summer 2025 we will begin to offer in-house financing. In the meantime, we’re happy to recommend lenders familiar with financing tiny homes and cabins.

7. Is transportation included?
We do not transport the cabins, we connect you with professional transporters who have specialized equipment and their own insurance coverage to arrange the delivery of your custom cabin. Delivery costs vary by location. Previous cabin buyers have paid between $2,000 to $5,000 for delivery.

8. Tell me about the roof?
Our cabins come standard with a durable 26-gauge metal roof rated for a 125 lb snow load. Higher load capacities are available if needed. Our standard roof color is a brown shade called “weathered copper” but you can select a different roof color if you’d like.

9. What stains do you offer?
We offer a variety of wood stain options, allowing you to choose the shade that best suits your property’s aesthetic. Our standard stain color that you’ll see in most of our featured cabin colors is a dark rustic brown but we can source any Sashco stain color you’d like.

10. What type of chinking do you use?
We use high-quality, flexible chinking designed for long-term durability and insulation. Our standard chinking color is an off-white shade called “buff” but other colors are available, including bright white and dark brown.

11. What windows and doors can I choose from?
Unless a custom window style and brand is selected, we offer a selection of energy-efficient double-pane Pella windows, the two most popular window colors are white or black. You have a variety of doors to choose from, for instance we can make you a custom hand-made wooden door or you can select a manufactured door from numerous providers including Pella, Home Depot and Lowes. We can also install sliding glass doors and French doors as an upgrade.

12. Do you offer a discount if I order multiple cabins?
Yes! We offer discounts for multiple cabin purchases, making them an excellent option for family properties, vacation rentals, and eco-resorts.

13. Can my cabin be built for off-grid living?
Yes, we can customize your cabin to be connected to a solar power setup, and/or you can select to have a composting toilet, an incinerating toilet or a cartridge toilet. Cabins can be built for both electrical and propane connections.

14. Do you help with local permits?
We don’t handle permitting directly, but we can provide engineered plans and documentation to assist with your local permit process.

15. How should I prepare my site before cabin delivery?
This depends on your individual site and both short and long-term needs. If you want your cabin to be placed on piers, you’ll want to work with a licensed local contractor to do the site prep and concrete foundation based on the cabin dimensions. If you want or need to keep the cabin moveable at a later date, then having a leveled gravel pad or a concrete pad prepared could work well. You’ll also need to ensure that there’s clearance for the cabin transporter to move your cabin to the site, e.g. cutting tree branches if needed. These are things we can discuss during the cabin design and planning phase.
16. Can I order a cabin that's wider than 14 feet?
No, due to transportation regulations, our cabins are a maximum of 14 feet wide (16 feet with the roof overhang). If you need a wider cabin, we may be able to sell you a log cabin kit – call us directly to discuss kit options.

17. Can I order a cabin that’s longer than 48 feet?
Maybe. Our existing cabin plans are limited to a maximum length of 48 feet; however, if you really want a longer cabin you could pay for an engineering plan update and we could build the cabin based on the new plans.

18. What heat sources do you offer?
We offer several options, including hyper mini split heat pumps, wood stoves, propane stoves, pellet stoves, baseboard heaters, and in-wall heaters, depending on your preferences and site requirements. The combination of a wood burning stove with a wall-mounted mini split is the most common selection, and mini splits also provide AC as a bonus!

19. Do you offer fully-furnished cabins?
Yes! For an additional fee we can provide fully-furnished and decorated cabins, designed for short-term rentals or move-in-ready use.

20. Can I just buy a basic weather-tight cabin shell and finish the interior and utilities myself?
Yes. We offer weather-tight “DIY cabin shells” that include the log structure, chinking, the roof, windows, and doors, allowing you to complete the interior and utilities at your own pace.
